Cardboard Creations – Building A Stuffed Animal House

Cardboard Crafts - Building a Stuffie HouseTwo weeks ago was a big week for deliveries at our house. As soon as Evan saw the good sized cardboard boxes, he yelled “I want to make houses for my stuffies!” I told him that we could and we piled the boxes in the corner of my office.  I had to save the boxes from the recycle bin on a few occasions and I was beginning to think they might still be here this time next year.

However, on Saturday morning Evan decided that we should get busy because those houses wouldn’t build themselves! I tried to talk him in to drawing out what he had in mind but that idea was quickly overruled. After a few false starts, he decided that I *might* know what I was talking about and he let me help. Letting me help soon gave way to him supervising me….the hired help.

Eye-ie all cozy in his bed

The house that we completed was for one of his favorite stuffies, Eye-ie. Evan comes up with the most original names. This stuffy is a giant eye with legs….so Eye-ie it is. Eye-ie had to have a television to watch (complete with a screen cut from a greeting card), a rug (drawn by Evan), a chair, a bed and a blanket. An eye motif can be seen throughout. We also stole a round ball from our Christmas potpourri for a chandelier. Overall, Evan is VERY happy with his project though it will only be for Eye-ie to use for naps. You see, Evan tried to let him sleep in it overnight and he had to get up during the night because he couldn’t sleep without Eye-ie.

Adorable. We are still using the boxes from Christmas to play, "Christmas Puppy".

I swear the boxes get played with longer than the toys!

I'm not very crafty either, Brandy. That is why it looks like this and not a stuffy mansion. ;)
