Cheesy Garlic Beer Bread

Cheesy Garlic Beer Bread

The smell of fresh-baked bread wafting from the oven is a beautiful thing. Nothing elevates a dinner of soup or stew like fresh-baked bread. My family’s favourite is this Cheesy Garlic Beer Bread. It’s like cheese bread and garlic bread got married and had a baby!

Beer bread is an easy peasy quick bread that you can make in under an hour. It’s perfect for busy nights when you are making a pot of soup. Stir this recipe together before you start your soup and it will likely be ready at the same time. Soup with fresh bread is one of my favourite fall and winter meals!

You can use any beer that you like with this recipe. Darker beers will give a stronger flavour as will very hoppy beers. Basically, use a beer you like to drink and don’t use a flavoured beer. Basically, the beer leavens your bread without the use of yeast.

You can also play around with the seasoning. Add sautéed onions, bacon, dill, or whatever suits your fancy.

It also goes wonderfully with my Easy Carrot SoupBeef Noodle Vegetable SoupCrock Pot Split Pea Soup, Crock Pot Chili, Instant Pot White Chili or any of my other soup or stew recipes.

I absolutely love this bread; I've made it too many times to count. It's always requested by my friends as well. I love super salty things so I add seasoning salt, garlic salt, sea salt, and top it with Malden salt. I also add caramelized onions and fresh garlic and dill, paprika, cumin, and mustard powder. As good as it is fresh out of the oven, I also love it toasted with butter.

I don't have garlic plus - can you tell me what to add instead?

Basically it is just fancy garlic salt. So use that and a bit of dried parsley.

Made this bread as a different Stay-At-Home4CoVid19, used a less salty salt(thanks to Lora up above), and a Colby & Monterey Cheese combo with Corona Beer. Yes, I am in California and using what we can find. It's delicious.

I found it to be a little on the salty side but baked beautiful. It’s quite a dense bread. The flavor is pretty close to red lobster biscuits. I used 21 seasoning salute (no added salt) in place of the garlic plus. I also used self raising flour and so didn’t add baking powder. Next time I will omit the salt. I’ll definately be baking this again. Thank you!

There is salt in self rising flour which is what would have made it too salty.
