Cooper in Canada Update

Cooper loves the Spring Snow in Calgary - =- .jpg

The last three weeks have been a BIG adjustment for Cooper. He moved from Alabama, got neutered and had to get used to snow. That is a LOT of change for such a little dog. He has dealt with it all with grace even that dreaded cone.

I am continually amazed at how well behaved he is even though he is only 1 1/2 years old. Given, he needs a bit of leash training (he likes to pull until he chokes because “OMG….EVERYTHING IS SO COOL! I NEED TO GO SEE IT NOW! OMG….TRAIN! OMG…..BIRD!…..OMG!…..SQUIRREL!” You get the picture.) He is really great with kids and he has gotten in to the routine of going outside to use the bathroom. I definitely think getting a new puppy is overrated if you can get one that is already potty trained!

Cooper probably thinks we are pretty well trained too. I think we spoil him a bit. He and I go for many long walks every day, including walking to and from school with Evan. For a little dog, he is getting lots of exercise every day. This means that when we are home, he loves to cuddle up and sleep. My friend Leslie from Hippo Hug made him the cutest little owl dog bed. He absolutely loves it and spends much of his time peering at us from his little nest. When he isn’t sleeping there, he is napping on the couch with me either on my fuzzy blanket or between me and my laptop.

I’ve wanted a dog forever but I really wasn’t sure how one would fit in to our lives. Now I’m not sure what we would do without Cooper. He has wriggled his little furry butt in to our lives and our hearts.

So, long story short, Cooper is our forever dog and we are his forever pet parents. We are undeniably smitten with the little guy. Though he was originally supposed to be Evan’s dog, he is mostly mine. He and I have bonded and he makes me calmer and much happier. Dewey calls him my puppy Prozac. All in all….I’m over the moon.

This makes me so happy. Animals bring such joy. Just make sure you get a harness. The choking dog thing can affect their trachea. I found this out too late.

But Cooper looks just perfect. And they always know who mom is.

Okay. harness has just been bumped up the must buy list. Eep. I had no idea about trachea issues but that makes sense. I just love him to pieces, Fadra!

So happy to hear that your family is doing so well with Cooper! Dogs are truly amazing little companions! Regarding the pulling on the leash situation-try a harness! We got them for our dogs & it makes a world of difference!

I've looked at harnesses but haven't purchased one. Okay...it is on the must buy list!
