Musings on Mumford and Mojitos (Recipe Included!)

Musings on Mumford and Mojitos (Recipe Included!)

While margaritas would also have nice alliteration with Mumford (of the & Sons fame of course), an early(ish) show time calls for an easier drink than frozen margaritas…..mojitos it is! Dewey has really perfected his cocktail making skills over the past few years. I must admit that mojitos might be my favorite. Yes, even over margaritas.

So, in case you are wondering what this has to do with Mumford & Sons…well, we are going to see them for the second time this year. You see, about two days after we returned from seeing them in Switzerland, they announced that they were coming to Calgary. People always say “Weren’t you mad to see they were coming to Calgary?” Um…no…I got to go to Paris and Switzerland AND see them in Calgary. I think that is pretty darn lucky. Their concert in Switzerland was the best concert I have ever been to. I don’t expect the Calgary show will be as great because the venue is MUCH larger but I’m sure it will still be awesome.

So tonight we are going to tip back a few mojitos and then make the short walk down to the concert. I can’t WAIT.

Looking for a great Spring/Summer cocktail? Mojitos are awesome and pretty darn easy….just use the recipe below.

Mojitos

Yield: 1
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

We took in a Mumford and Sons concert with some of our friends. To celebrate, we made these delicious Mojitos. Check out the recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 1/4 oz rum, dark or light
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar to taste, to taste
  • 5 mint leaves, chopped
  • Soda water
  • Lots of Ice

Instructions

  1. In a large glass add mint leaves and lime juice
  2. Muddle the mint with the bottom of a spoon or a muddler
  3. Add rum and agave nectar and mix
  4. Fill glass with ice cubes and add soda water to taste.

Notes

We have a soda stream soda machine so we like to hyper carbonate our soda water. There is nothing worse than a flat mojito! To save time, pre-squeeze your limes and keep the juice in a jar in your refrigerator. This way your guests aren't watching you squeeze limes all day.

Okay so I've never had a mojito or heard a mumford and sons song. I hope we can still be friends.

Love that you've got agave going on here instead of sugar. I've been avoiding mojito's for years and now I don't have to. Thanks, lady!
