My Final Thoughts on Shaw’s BlueSky TV

My Final Thoughts on Shaw’s BlueSky TV

Disclosure: This post about Shaw’s BlueSky TV has been sponsored. My family was given BlueSky TV for 6 months to test and review. As always, all opinions are my own.

How has it been six months since we started our trial of Shaw’s BlueSky TV? Time sure does fly! As time went on, we got into a new routine with BlueSky. Every morning Dewey and Evan would watch “What Went Down” on HiFi. Evan would push the blue microphone button and say “What Went Down” into the remote. Motorcycle and skateboard crashing appeared on the telly and his morning routine was complete.

We grew to use and love so many of the features of BlueSky TV including:

  • Voice Control
  • Channel grouping by genre
  • Restart of movies on some titles (the little blue play button for the win!)
  • Integration with CraveTV
  • Easier to use On Demand functions

Once our trial was up, we had to decide if we wanted to stay with BlueSky TV or go back to the normal Shaw cable that we had before. BlueSky was a bit more expensive but it had more features. Dewey and I sat down to discuss all the pros and cons. In the end, we decided that going back to normal cable would feel like a step backwards.

Walking through the different options with our Shaw customer service rep, I quickly realized that I needed to make some choices about what we actually watch and what we don’t. They have different size plans which allow you to pick different number of “bundles”. You can also pick a la carte but that is usually not as economical. We ended up getting the Large TV + Internet 150 plan to get everything I wanted. I can always downgrade that if it is too much and we aren’t using it. I also added HBO because….”Game of Thrones”!

One thing that I didn’t do was re-up with CraveTV. I liked it but I found that I still went back to Netflix for my streaming fix. I am hopeful that BlueSky TV will one day integrate Netflix as well. Fingers crossed!

So all in all, we were super happy with BlueSky from start to finish. The “oooooh” didn’t wear off after the first few months like it does with some things. Dewey is pretty excited since I think he was a little worried that I would decide that he didn’t need cable while Evan and I are away on our epic RV adventure. Poor guy, I can’t leave him without a little entertainment!

Hope that gives you an idea of what BlueSky TV is and what our TV addicted family thought of it. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and I’ll answer them the best I can.

Ahhhhh..... television and how to watch it. It's not as easy as it was when I was growing up. Back then we stuck an antenna on the roof and that was that. Cable was available when my kids were little but not where we lived out in the boonies. Blue Sky is new to me and I'm totally intrigued. We're not happy with the provider we have now so I have some research to do for my area. Thank so much!!
