Sporting Life Canada: Tech and Fashion Together

Sporting Life Canada: Tech and Fashion Together

Sporting Life Canada

Over the last few years my life had changed dramatically. I went from an office environment to a home office. Goodbye business casual, hello casual! The one thing I didn’t want to lose, though, was style. After trying to make do with stylish but non technical clothes, I realized I needed something more. Walking as much as I do in Calgary meant cheap and cheerful jackets are not working for me. Fast forward to a week ago when I got invited to check out the new Sporting Life Canada store at South Centre mall in Calgary. They work to bring tech and fashion together for those of us who live in the arctic tundra (I kid! I kid!) but still want to look stylish!

One cool service that Sporting Life offers is free personal shopping service with no minimum purchase. When I headed to the store, I met with their shopper. She asked me what I was interested in and why. (Pro tip: Have kids to outfit? Call ahead and tell them the kid’s sizes and have them pull what you are looking for. Then go in, try it all on and take what you want. Edited: I was mistaken…SportingLife will give you a portion of what you paid back on kid’s equipment not clothing.  Sweeet!)

First in my wish list was a great jacket somewhere between a shell and a parka. This year has been milder than usual but still cold enough for a coat of some sort. Evan and I walk almost a kilometer every morning. For weeks I was either freezing or overheating. I needed something in between but looking nice was a priority too. We walked through the women’s department and looked at the many, many coats available. We finally decided on the Patagonia Women’s Fiona Coat. It had everything I was looking for: warmth, lightweight, great looking. Plus it had an extra plus that I didn’t even know was an option…it stuffs down to nothing. Perfect for wearing to the airport when you are going away on a trip. No more lugging a parka to Mexico!

Next on my list was work out gear. I’ve been working out every day for the last few months. I joined a 90 day workout challenge and this is the first time I have actually stuck with it. I don’t know about you but I feel so much better about working out when I have actual clothes that work for working out. Nothing makes a workout seem longer than having to stop to fiddle with pants that flop around or shoes that won’t stay tight.

Sporting Life has a great selection of workout clothes. I ended up with two shirts (one from Nike and one from >>>>) and two pairs of tights (one from Lole and one from Nike). My Lole tights even play double duty. They have super cute ruching at the bottom so I can wear them out with a tunic. Sweet! I also grabbed a workout jacket from New Balance and a pair of shoes from Nike (seriously the most comfy shoes EVER). All the great gear to keep me working out and reaching my fitness goals.

One part of reaching my goals is putting my exercise clothes on right when I wake up. Unfortunately, tights do not keep you very warm. I often had a bad case of what my husband likes to call “frozen turkey butt”. Well, Sporting Life had something I didn’t even know I need….a down skirt! It’s a skirt made from down coat material by Skhoop. No more cold turkey butt! And it’s even cute! Winning!

Workout Clothes and a Warm bum

Last but not least, I stopped by the Home section at Sporting Life. Super cute things from Elf on the Shelf to fashion for your furry friend. I couldn’t say no to a new coat for him when I got one for me. Look at those pockets! Squee!

Look at all the cute stuff they have!

The crazy thing? All the pictures I’ve shared are from the second floor. There is a WHOLE OTHER FLOOR full of ski equipment, men’s clothes and more. They also have an entire kid’s section and baby section. What does that mean?

You HAVE to go visit. Make sure you have lots of time to browse and sign up for their newsletter because you will get all their great sales right to your inbox (or check out their online sale stuff here).

In Calgary? Visit their store at Southcentre Mall.

In Ontario or Ottawa? See if they have a store near you.

Somewhere else in Canada? Order online!

Disclosure: I have been compensated by Sporting Life Canada. As always, all opinions are my own.

I do feel better working out in the right clothes. I hate it when I have to pull up my pants the entire time I am working out.
