Welcoming a Little Ray of Sunshine in to Our Lives

Welcoming a Little Ray of Sunshine in to Our Lives

Remember when I told you about Evan falling head over heels in love with my Dad’s dog, Cooper? Well, we decided to bring him back home with us. He made the BIG trip from Alabama to Calgary with us yesterday and now he has taken over and is running the show.

We’ve been talking about getting a dog for a long time. Dewey (who was the no vote for quite a while) finally said that we could get a dog but I couldn’t decide if we REALLY needed to get one. We travel a lot. Evan can be a handful. We’re busy. What if we get a devil dog? All of these reasons kept me from making the move to get a dog.

Until we met Cooper. He is such a sweetie. He LOVES Evan, is super playful and barely ever barks. He’s mostly housetrained (a few accidents while getting to know our house are to be expected) and he darn cute. Plus, my dad needed to find a new home for him. He adopted Cooper when he was working fewer hours. When his work increased, it meant that Cooper had to spend a lot of time by himself. A happy, social little dog needed more time than my dad could give. He suggested that we take Cooper home with us and after a bit of research in to importing a dog…..we decided that we should.

Cooper was a champ on the two flights home. He rode in his little dog carrier for the entire time we were at the Birmingham airport and on the plane. Thankfully Denver airport let us have him out and about on his leash. He and I made quite a few laps of the Denver airport. One thing I noticed is that you can NOT be in a bad mood walking Cooper. Everyone smiles at you and squeals “What a cute puppy!!!” There is no way to keep from smiling back! Plus he totally prisses while he walks which is ridiculously adorable.

I didn’t mention that we were bringing him home yesterday because we wanted to surprise Will and Nicole when we saw them today. They are in love with Cooper now too. He spent all afternoon running from one person to the other. Talk about excited! So many people to play fetch with and so little time!

I predict that it will take very little time before we can’t remember what our lives were like before Cooper. Until then…I apologize in advance for all the pictures because he is CUTE. Just look at those static infused ears!

Oh he is SO cute! It will not be long before you will say that you can't remember life without him. We just got a new puppy 2 weeks ago and are already saying that. Dogs bring so much joy, love, and happiness to a family :)

He is 16 months old which is a great age. Old enough to be house trained but young enough to be fun.
