Where to Enjoy Disney Fireworks at Magic Kingdom!

Where to Enjoy Disney Fireworks at Magic Kingdom!

Fireworks displays are super popular at Disney World. Watching the extravaganza is a great way to end a day at the park. Believe it or not, the Disney fireworks cost between $41 and $55 thousand dollars per night. That being said, you’ll be hard-pressed to see anything else that really measures up.

First, some general Disney Fireworks Advice for Magic Kingdom

  • Make sure you check the times for the evening fireworks shows. The times change depending on when the park closes on a given day. You don’t want to assume it is one time only to find out you made a mistake.
  • Happily Ever After is first and last 18 minutes. Once Upon a time follows about 45 minutes after Happily Ever After starts and lasts about 14 minutes. You definitely want to stick around to see both.
  • Fireworks end off every night at Magic Kingdom. Make sure to plan your itinerary to see them at least once. I say plan because if you are getting to the parks at opening every day, you will want to watch fireworks early in your trip. As the days go by, kids (and adults) lose the ability to stay up to see the fireworks and keep their good moods intact.

Main Street Train Station

The Main Street Train Station is absolutely the best place to take in the Happily Ever After fireworks display. From the second floor of the station, you are privy to an excellent view framed by the buildings on either side of Main Street USA. Another reason to watch Disney fireworks here is that you can quickly make your way out of the park or take an evening train ride to Frontierland.

Ohana

Ohana at the Polynesian Village Resort is the perfect venue to enjoy a meal while you watch Magic Kingdom fireworks. This Lilo & Stitch-inspired restaurant serves delicious dinner skewers made with chicken, sirloin steak or peel-n-eat shrimp, in addition to a full menu. Plus they have the best bread pudding dessert ANYWHERE.

The eatery also offers guests a distant view of the fireworks across Seven Seas Lagoon. Because watching the display from Ohana is so popular, the restaurant dims the lights during the show while playing a special soundtrack over the speaker system. Ohana books up fast, though, so if you want to take advantage of this option, make your reservations as early as you can.

Main Street Plaza Garden

The Main Street Garden Plaza is a location reserved for guests participating in the Happily Ever After Dessert Party. Attendance allows you to enjoy delicious desserts as well as provides you with the opportunity to watch the fireworks show from the middle of the Central Plaza.

If your family is excited to see this particular display, the Dessert Party is a good investment. Or, consider grabbing a frozen treat from the ice cream parlor in the plaza and then securing a spot in the central hub.  This is less a less expensive option that typically provides a better than average view. Just know that you will likely have to snag a spot very early.

Magic Kingdom Fireworks

Frontierland

When you watch the Happily Ever After display from Frontierland, you can’t see the projected aspects of the show. However, you still have a great view of the actual fireworks, as well as Cinderella’s Castle. The upside to this is you don’t have large crowds to deal with like those watching the show from Main Street. And, in the event hunger strikes, it’s convenient to purchase snacks like pretzels and popcorn to enjoy as you watch. Evan recommends the churros but says to stay away from the turkey legs.

Cosmic Rays

Another area where you can’t see the projections but you can see the fireworks quite well. Snag a table near the windows or stand outside on the stairs. Evan and I figured this out quite by accident one night as we dined.

Behind Cinderella’s Castle

Like the two options above, you can’t experience the projected elements of the fireworks display when watching from behind Cinderella’s castle. But, it’s still one of the most popular spots to sit and take in the rest of the show.

Please note, there are a few areas in Fantasyland where it’s prohibited to stay and watch the fireworks due to the possibility of falling shells. For the best view, sit directly behind the castle or along the path leading up to the Be Our Guest restaurant.

These are our favorite spots to watch the Disney fireworks when we visit Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. They all give you a great vantage point to take memorable pictures to remind you of your stay. Try watching them from several of these locations to see which one you like the best. The choice is up to you!

I prefer to watch from Frontierland too! I have to admit, even as a passholder, we rarely stay for the fireworks. We go early and leave by dinner!

I agree! We often skipped out early as well but it is a MUST to see them at least once.

Wow! I remember Disney Fireworks being pretty amazing but I didn't realize they put SO MUCH money into them. 50k per night is a whole lot of money!
